Tablet Wall Mount with Charging: How to Charge Your Tablet on the Wall

A tablet on the wall is only as good as its power supply. Without a charging function, it means every few hours: take it down, charge it, hang it back up. In this guide you will learn how charging on the wall works, which cable you need and how to route it out of sight.

What "with charging" means for a wall mount

There are two approaches. Mounts with built-in charging electronics are expensive and tie you to the built-in power supply. The second approach: the mount routes your normal charging cable concealed to the tablet's port. That is exactly how we do it at Cleverstation. This has three advantages: you use your original power adapter at full charging speed, there are no electronics that can break, and the mount stays affordable.

Which cable you need

We recommend a cable with an angled connector so that it sits flat behind the tablet (not included). Newer iPads and practically all Android tablets from Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi and Honor charge via USB-C. Older iPads (such as iPad 5 to 9 or iPad mini up to the 5th generation) use Lightning. The cable length depends on where your wall socket sits: directly below the mount, one meter is often enough.

How the cable disappears from sight

Three proven ways, from the simplest to the most involved:

  • Wall socket nearby: if a socket sits directly below the tablet, a short cable is hardly noticeable.
  • Cable duct: a slim cable duct from the hardware store can be painted over in your wall color and is installed in a few minutes.
  • Flush-mounted: the cleanest solution. An electrician installs an empty wall box behind the tablet, and the cable disappears completely into the wall. Convenient: our mounts cover a standard flush-mounted wall box.

Protecting the battery in continuous use

If the tablet is permanently plugged in, it is worth a look at the settings: current iPads offer optimized charging or a charge limit, and many Android tablets have comparable battery protection features. Alternatively, a smart plug can switch the power on a schedule so the battery stays in its comfort zone.

Finding the right mount

All of our tablet wall mounts route the charging cable concealed, both the slide-in and the enclosure version. They are 3D printed in Germany, precisely fitted for your tablet. For your iPad there is the iPad wall mount with charging as a slide-in or as an enclosure mount with a frame. The model finder shows you which mount fits your device. And if you want to use your tablet as a smart home display, our guide Your tablet as a smart home hub has the complete walkthrough.
